Danielle Stenger is entering her fourth season as pitching coach at Michigan State in 2025, and eighth total alongside head coach Sharonda McDonald-Kelley.
Stenger will guide a youthful but talented 2026 pitching staff. A pair of freshmen hurlers were named to the Big Ten Players to Watch list by Softball America, and two junior transfers will help provide experience and leadership alongside the two returning sophomores. In 2025, Jacey Shuler posted a 12-strikeout effort against Longwood, which ranked 10th all-time in a single game in program history.Â
Before coming to East Lansing, Stenger was the pitching coach at Campbell. She guided a pitching staff that improved significantly in each of her final two seasons. The Camels boasted a strong staff in 2022, posting a 2.10 team ERA, led by Isabella Smith's 1.87 ERA and Georgeanna Barefoot's 2.04 ERA. Opposing batters hit just .210 against Campbell's pitchers as the team finished the season with a record of 37-19.
Â
Prior to her stint at Campbell, Stenger coached for six seasons at Western Carolina, serving as an assistant coach before being elevated to associate head coach. There, Stenger mentored the Catamounts' all-time leader in strikeouts, Jordan Garrett (740).
 Â
A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Stenger was a standout pitcher at Southern Illinois University. During her four-year career as a Saluki, Stenger went 67-40 in the circle with a 2.25 ERA. In 2010, Stenger was named the Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Pitcher of the Year as well as All-MVC First Team and National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Region second team.
Â
Stenger and her husband, Nick, have a son, Nolan.
