2022 (REDSHIRT-SOPHOMORE): Garnered Academic All-Big Ten recognition ... Missed entire season with an injury suffered in preseason.
2021 (REDSHIRT-FRESHMAN): Earned Academic All-Big Ten accolades ... Played in 28 games, making 23 starts, all at catcher ... Ranked tied for sixth on team hitting .272 (22-for-81) with five doubles, 12 runs scored, 12 RBI, adding seven walks and was third on team with five stolen bases ... Also second on MSU with a .368 on-base percentage ... Logged five multi-hit games, led by three outings with three hits, highlighted by 3-for-4 outing with a double, knocking in four RBI and two runs scored vs. Northwestern (March 13) in Greenville, adding stolen base and a walk, which was the middle outing of one of a pair of season-long three-game hitting streaks, as well as the start of a three-game streak with an RBI ... Was 3-for-3 in two different games, first vs. Purdue (April 18) at Champaign, Ill., then vs. Michigan (May 9), with a double, RBI and stolen base ... Notched lone stolen base of season vs. Merrimack (Feb. 23) ... Applied to tag to nab Western Carolina runner at the plate for the final out and the defensive walk-off in a 4-3 Victory for MSU over WCU on Feb. 29 in Greenville ... HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-year letterwinner at Brother Rice High School for head coach Bob Riker, where he was a teammate with fellow Spartan signee Reese Trahey ... Earned all-region, all-conference and All-Catholic League honors as a junior after hitting .362 with team-bests of 39 hits and 38 RBI, while adding three HR ... Helped the Warriors to a 28-9 record ... Plays summer league for The D Las Vegas with fellow Spartan signees Reese Trahey and Jacob Erickson, hitting .392 with 28 RBI.
PERSONAL: Son of Ricardo Sotres and Teresa Gonzalez ... Chose MSU because of the academic and athletic success and he felt that was the best place that he could improve his baseball skills and provide a great education ... Majoring in business ...
