CAREER NOTES: Three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection ... Talented, two-sport player, who also played on the Michigan State football team for three seasons (2019-21), was a tight end and defensive end, seeing action in five games, including the Spartans’ Pinstripe Bowl victory in 2019, playing in Yankee Stadium ... The last Spartan to play games for both the football and baseball teams at the same time appears to be Duane Young in 1990 before the tight end went on to spend six seasons in the NFL ... Played in six games of 2021 football season to earn his second letter, before missing remainder of season with an injury.
2023 (REDSHIRT-SOPHOMORE): Earned Academic All-Big Ten recognition ... Made 12 appearances with eight starts, posting a 1-1 record with a 4.94 ERA, with 36 Ks and 23 BB in 31.0 IP ... Fired career-high 11 strikeouts in 6.0 IP vs. Western Carolina (March 11) in Greenville, s, more than doubling his previous career-best of five Ks, most recently done in his last outing on March 6 vs. Air Force, and first done on March 27, 2021 vs. Indiana ... The 11 strikeouts was the first MSU pitcher with 10 or more Ks since teammate Nick Powers rang up 10 strikeouts against the same Western Carolina and almost a year to the day on March 12, 2022 ... Ranked third in Big Ten and 71st in NCAA in ERA with 1.17, ranking fifth among freshman pitchers, while tying for the most appearances among freshman pitchers and leading freshman pitchers in games in relief and sharing the lead for saves by a freshman ... Earned save in his Spartan baseball debut vs. Morehead State on Feb. 15, playing for Michigan State football in the fall, and took the mound for his first official action in a Spartan baseball uniform ... Fired 4.0 innings with two strikeouts, yielding just one hit and one unearned run to earn the save ... Made two appearances vs. Merrimack in Greenville, pitching 3.0 IP on Feb. 22 and 2.1 IP on Feb. 23 ...
