Big Ten Announces 2026-27 Hockey Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Big Ten conference announced its complete schedule for the 2026-27 hockey season on Friday afternoon. Game times and television selections will be announced at a later date.
Michigan State's conference schedule features four games (two home, two away) against each of the other six league teams. In total, MSU will play 18 home games (including two exhibitions) at Ron Mason Rink at Munn Ice Arena this upcoming season.
The Spartans open the 2026-27 campaign with a heavyweight clash, taking on Boston College in an exhibition on October 2, before getting the regular season underway with a homecoming weekend series against Northern Michigan on October 9 and 11.
MSU hits the road for four-straight to close out October, taking on RIT in Rochester, N.Y. for Brick City Homecoming weekend at Blue Cross Arena on October 17, returning to the East Coast for a two-game series at New Hampshire on October 23-24, and finishing the road stretch with the Hockey Hall of Fame Game against North Dakota in Austin, Texas on October 31. Associate Head Coach Jared DeMichiel is an RIT alum, playing in goal for the Tigers from 2006-10.
Michigan State returns to East Lansing for the second half of its home-and-home series with Boston University on November 6-7 prior to Big Ten play getting underway at Notre Dame on November 12-13.
The first split series with Michigan takes place on November 20 and 21, with the Friday game taking place in Ann Arbor and the Saturday contest returning to Munn Ice Arena. Big Ten play continues before the holiday break with a series at Ohio State on December 3-4 and a home series against Minnesota on December 11-12.
Michigan State will once again participate in the annual Great Lakes Invitational, which returns for its 60th edition in 2026. The Spartans, who were champions at the 2024 and 2025 GLI, will look to defend that title against potential opponents Michigan Tech, Lindenwood and Western Michigan on December 29-30. MSU's non-conference schedule concludes with an exhibition against the US National Team Development Program team at Munn on January 3.
MSU returns to Big Ten play in January with a road series at Wisconsin on January 8-9, a home series against Penn State on January 15-16 and a road series at Minnesota on January 29-30.
The Spartans get the extra home game against Michigan this season, taking on the Wolverines at Munn for the second time on February 5 before a road date at a location to be determined on February 6.
Michigan State will play three of its final four Big Ten series at home, welcoming Wisconsin (February 12-13), Notre Dame (February 25 & 27) and Ohio State (March 4-5) to East Lansing. Penn State represents the final road series of the B1G slate this season, taking place February 19-20.
