Men’s Golf Team Earns Academic Honors from the Golf Coaches Association of America

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team was one of 88 Division I schools nationally recognized with a Presidents Special Recognition by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Wednesday afternoon.
The GCAA recognized 202 Division I teams with the Team Academic Award for grade-point averages above 3.0 and the Spartans were among a smaller group of 88 to earn the Presidents Special Recognition for having an average team GPA of 3.5 or above.
Michigan State was just one of five Big Ten schools to earn the Presidents Special Recognition from the GCAA.
Five Spartans were named to the GCAA All-America Scholar Team last week, senior Lucas Acevedo, recent graduates Caleb Bond and Ashton McCulloch, junior Julian Menser and senior Lorenzo Pinili. MSU was one of 22 Division I schools with at least five recipients.
Michigan State posted five top-five finishes during the 2025-26 season and had two individuals qualify to participate in the NCAA Regionals, the 10th-straight year the Spartans have been represented in the postseason, with team appearances from 2026-19 and 2022-25 and individuals reaching a regional in 2021 (James Piot) and in 2026 (Bond and McCulloch).
