In singles action, Baris quickly evened the team score after defeating UCLA's Emon van Loben Sels in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. Following his doubles partner's lead, Forbes defeated his opponent Rudy Quan 6-3, 6-4, to give the Spartans' their first lead over UCLA. At No. 1 singles, Thanos took down UCLA's Spencer Johnson 6-3, 7-5.
