Men’s Golf Ties for Second Place at the Muirfield Shootout

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State's men's golf team shot a 4-over par 580 over two rounds and tied for second place among 13 teams at the Muirfield Shootout, held at the Country Club of Muirfield in Dublin, Ohio.
The one-day, 36-hole tournament was played on the par-72, 7,320-yard course and each of the 13 teams played six golfers, with the low four scores counting toward the team total.
MSU shot a 4-over par 292 in the first round before coming back with an even-par 288 in the second to tie for second at 4-over par 580.
Kent State won the event at 3-over par 579 and the Spartans tied for second place with host Miami (Ohio) and Eastern Michigan, with Xavier fifth at 6-over par 582.
Senior Ashton McCulloch led the Spartans, finishing in third place at 1-under par 143 (72-71), closing with a 1-under par in the second round.
Freshman Luke Mueller had the best finish of his career, tying for fourth place at even-par 144 (70-72), firing a 2-under par 70 in the first round.
Senior Caleb Bond tied for 16th place at 2-over par 146 (75-71), while junior Julian Menser tied for 18th place at 3-over par 147 (75-72).
Junior McCoy Biagioli tied for 39th place with a score of 7-over par 151 (75-76) and classmate Lorenzo Pinili tied for 42nd place at 8-over par 152 (77-75).
The Spartans next compete in the Big Ten Championships, being played at Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains, Ore. from Friday, May 1 to Sunday, May 3.
