Spartans Conclude Regular Season at the Buckeye Invitational

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team closes out the regular season this weekend, playing in the Buckeye Invitational at the Scarlet Course on the campus of Ohio State University in Columbus.
The two-day, 54-hole tournament will be played on the par-72, 6,319-yard course on Friday, April 17 and Saturday, April 18. The 14-team field, which including six teams ranked among the top-50 in the country, tees off on Friday morning (8:30 a.m. shotgun) and will play two rounds of continuous play. The final round will be held on Saturday morning (8:30 a.m. shotgun).
The Spartans tee off from the first hole on Friday morning, playing alongside host Ohio State and Northwestern.

In addition to host Ohio State (36), the field includes Ball State, Harvard, Indiana (43), Iowa State (25), Kent State (30), Michigan State (40), Northwestern (28), Ohio, Rutgers, Toledo, Western Michigan, Xavier and Youngstown State.

Michigan State took home the team championship at the 2026 Carolina Challenge Cup on April 4 … It was the first team win of the season for the Spartans and their best finish since the Spartan Sun Coast Invitational in 2025 … The Spartans were the only team in the field to finish under par with an 8-under par 552 (276-276) finish … Leading the way for the Spartans was senior Taylor Kehoe, finishing in first place overall and collecting the first win of her career with a 6-under par 134 (68-66) performance … Kehoe's 4-under par 66 in the second round was the best single round of her Spartan career, with her previous best being a 64 in 2023 while at Alabama … Following Kehoe was classmate Paula Balanzategui, finishing in second place in the field at 3-under par 137 (67-70) … Balanzategui's second place finish tied the best finish of her collegiate career … Freshman Lucia Valderrama finished tied for fifth place among the field at 1-under par 139 (72-67) … Valderrama's second round 3-under par 67 was the best round of her career, tallying five birdies in the round … Freshman Sarisa Pojanalai finished in 12th place at 3-over par 143 (69-74) … Pojanalai also recorded a new career best single round with a 1-under par 69 in round one … Sophomore Grace Vetter rounded out the Spartans lineup, finishing in 20th place at 3-over par 148 (75-73).

Michigan State has won the tournament six times, the most of any school outside of host Ohio State … MSU's Buckeye Invitational wins under head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll have come in 2005, 2011, 2013 and 2017 … MSU topped Texas by one stroke in the final round to win in 2017, finished third in 2018 and as the runner-up in 2019, 2023, 2024 and in 2025 … Last year, the Spartans shot a 13-over par 877 (295-297-285) to finish in second place … Brooke Biermann led the way for MSU, finishing in third place at 2-under par 214 (73-72-69) … Kehoe shot a 2-over par 218 (71-74-73) and finished in fifth place and Balanzategui finished in ninth place at 6-over par 222 (74-77-71).
