No. 11 Michigan State Travels to No. 14 Penn State Sunday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -Â No. 11 Michigan State gymnastics is on the road for the second-straight week this weekend, taking on No. 14 Penn State inside Rec Hall on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
Sunday's meet will stream on B1G+.
The Spartans sit at a season-high No. 11 (196.581 average) in this week's RoadtoNationals rankings after a 197.525-197.425 victory at then-No. 10 Michigan on Feb. 1. The win was MSU's first Big Ten victory of the season, while the Spartans' 197.525 beat their previous season high (196.900) by over six tenths and is the ninth-best score in the NCAA after Week 5 action. MSU also set team season highs on every event, scoring a 49.425 on vault, 49.275 on bars, 49.350 on beam and 49.475 on floor against the Wolverines. Â
In the team event rankings, MSU ranks a team-best No. 10 on beam (49.219 average), 11th on vault (49.175), 13th on floor (49.238) and 22nd on bars (48.950). Individually, senior Olivia Zsarmani ranks 14th in the NCAA on both vault and beam, while senior Sage Kellerman is 15th on bars and senior Nikki Smith sits in 14th on floor.Â
MSU captured at least a share of three out of four possible event titles at Michigan, highlighted by Kellerman, who won the vault title outright with a season-high 9.975 and earned a share of the bars title (9.925) to earn Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors from the conference on Monday for the seventh time in her career. Zsarmani and junior MaKayla Tucker shared the beam title, each earning the first beam title of their careers, with 9.900s. Tucker also won her first-career all-around title with a career-high 39.500.
SCOUTING PENN STATE
Penn State is 14th in this week's RoadtoNationals rankings with a 196.481 team average and is undefeated this season so far, posting a 4-0 overall record and 3-0 mark in Big Ten action. The Nittany Lions are coming off of a 196.375-194.575 win at Rutgers on Feb. 1 and will face No. 3 LSU in Baton Rogue on Friday, Feb. 6 before hosting the Spartans on Sunday.
The Nittany Lions also rank eighth nationally on bars (49.244 average), 14th on beam (49.075) and 18th on both vault (49.031) and floor (49.131). Penn State put up its third-highest team score in program history with a 197.250 against Maryland on Jan. 24 this season and has scored a 196.000 or better in every meet in 2026.
MSU and Penn State met three times last season - the 2025 Big Four Meet, Big Ten Championships and second round of the NCAA University Park Regional. The Spartans topped the Nittany Lions in all three matchups. MSU last visited Rec Hall for a dual meet in a 197.475-195.950 win on Jan. 19, 2024 and has not dropped a contest to the Nittany Lions since finishing fourth at the Big Five Meet to third-place Penn State on Feb. 22, 2020.
