MSU Women’s Finishes in Ninth Place at Canadian Collegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 29-over par 605 over two rounds and finished in ninth place among 12 teams at inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational, played at Beacon Hall Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario, Canada.
Due to a weather delay on Monday morning, the tournament was shortened to 36 holes.
The Spartans posted a 14-over par 302 in Monday's first round and closed with a 15-over par 303 on Tuesday.
Auburn won the tournament, firing a 16-under par 560 (284-276), with Kent State second at 10-under par 566, Ole Miss third at 1-over par 577, Virginia in fourth place at 2-over par 578 and Tennessee rounded out the top-five teams at 5-over par 581.
Senior Taylor Kehoe was the top finisher for the Spartans, tying for 13th place at even-par 144 (76-68). Kehoe fired a 4-under par 68 in the second round, the third-best round of her collegiate career, with five bogies and 12 pars.
Senior Paula Balanzategui, who tied for sixth place at 2-under par 70 after the first round, tied for 34th place at 7-over par 151 (70-81).
Junior Ana Sofia Murcia and senior Amelie Weber both tied for 47th place at 11-over par 155. Murcia shot a 6-over par 78 in the second round for her 11-over par 155 (77-78), while Weber closed with a 4-over par 76 (79-76).
Graduate Shannon Kennedy tied for 57th place at 16-over par 160 (79-81).
Playing as an individual, freshman Lucia Valderrama tied for 28th place at 4-over par 148 (77-71). She closed with a final round 1-under par 71.
Michigan State plays in the Windy City Classic on Monday, Sept. 29 and Tuesday, Sept. 30 at Glen View Golf Club in Illinois.
