Spartans Finish First Round of NCAA Championships

Taylor Kehoe Tied for 12th Place at 2-Under Par 70
East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 10-over par 298 on Friday and is tied for 25th place among 30 teams after the first round of play at the NCAA Championships, being played at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
After finishing in a tie for fourth place at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional last week, the Spartans ware making their fourth-straight NCAA Championships appearance, the fifth in the last six years and the 16th under Head Coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll.
Michigan State is competing in the NCAA Championships for the 18th time in program history.
Southern California leads the field at 7-under par 281, one shot ahead of Stanford, in second place at 6-under par 282. Oklahoma State is in third place at 5-under par 283, with Iowa state fourth and Eastern Michigan and Arkansas tied for fifth place at 2-under par 286.
The Spartans are tied for 25th place at 10-over par 298 with Kentucky.
Senior Taylor Kehoe is the leader for the Spartans, tied for 13th place at 2-under par 70. She had four birdies in the opening round.
Freshman Sarisa Pojanalai shot an even-par 72 and is tied for 41st place.
Sophomore Grace Vetter is tied for 122nd place at 5-over par 77, junior Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 144th place at 7-over par 79 and freshman Lucia Valderrama is in 156th place at 11-over par 83.
The Spartans tee off at 4:40 p.m. (ET) on Saturday, playing alongside Oregon State and Texas Tech.
