MSU Women’s Golf Finishes First Day of Play at Canadiana Collegiate

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State's women's golf team shot a 14-over par 302 in the first round and is tied for seventh place among 12 teams after the first round of play in the inaugural Canadian Collegiate Invitational, being played at Beacon Hall Golf Club in Aurora, Ontario, Canada.
Due to a weather delay on Monday morning, the tournament has been shortened to 36 holes, which will conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
Co-host Kent State shot a 7-under par 281 to lead the field, with Auburn second (4-under par 284), Ole Miss and Virginia tied for third place (2-over par 290) and Michigan fifth.
The Spartans are tied for seventh place with USF at 14-over par 302.
Senior Paula Balanzategui is tied for sixth place, leading MSU with a 2-under par 70. She finished her day with five birdies and an eagle.
Senior Taylor Kehoe is tied for 30th place at 4-over par 76, while junior Ana Sofia Murcia is tied for 37th place at 7-over par 77.
Graduate Shannon Kennedy and senior Amelie Weber both posted scores of 7-over par 79 and are tied for 51st place.
Playing as an individual, freshman Lucia Valderrama shot a 5-over par 77 and is tied for 37th place.
Michigan State starts Tuesday's final round at 9 a.m. on the 7th hole, playing alongside USF and Purdue.
