MSU Set to Compete in Tulsa to Kickstart Competition
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Michigan State men's tennis will be heading south to Tulsa, Oklahoma, this weekend for the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships, Sept. 20-28. This national tournament showcases the top tennis talent across the country, and the Spartans are ready to show out.
Six Spartans are set to represent MSU in the tournament. Senior David Saye, junior Taym Alazmeh, and sophomores Vuk Radjenovik and Danial Rakhmatullayev will begin their trip competing in the singles pre-qualifying rounds. This will be the first step toward advancing to the later stages of competition.
Sophomore Matthew Forbes will be joining the action during the first round of qualifying, aiming to continue MSU's push deeper into the bracket.
Senior Ozan Baris will join the rest of the Spartans in the first round of the main draw. Coming off an impressive run last weekend earned him Big Ten Player of the Week accolades, Baris will have some momentum to help him make a deep run in the tournament.
In addition to singles play, Michigan State will also field a strong lineup for doubles play. With multiple teams entered into the draw, MSU looks to highlight its depth on the court.
The Spartans are looking for a standout performance to set the tone for the rest of their season.
