MSU moves to 13-22 (3-10 B1G) while Illinois improves to 17-20 (4-8 B1G). The Spartans return to Secchia Stadium on Tuesday, April 15 for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference match-up with Notre Dame. It's the final non-conference and mid-week game of the season for Michigan State.
Senior Faith Guidry (2-6) made the start and successfully navigated 6.2 innings before running into trouble with two outs in the seventh. Guidry tossed four consecutive scoreless innings entering the seventh and retired nine straight batters before a pair of two-out Illini home runs ended the contest.
Junior Kaelin Cash posted another multi-hit game with two on Sunday, driving in one. Senior Collette Allen and sophomore Hannah Greer tallied extra-base hits with Allen doubling and Greer homering in the second inning. Greer reached all three times she batted in the series finale drawing two walks. Junior Britain Beshears also drove in a runner for the Spartans.
It was Greer that broke a scoreless tie in the second inning when she popped her fourth home run of the season over the fence in left on the first pitch she saw. Allen set-up the two-run shot with a lead-off double to left center. Illinois tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the second.

The score remained 2-2 heading into the fifth inning when back-to-back singles by freshman Ava Coffinger and junior Hannah Hawley put two runners on base for Cash. Cash singled off the wall in right field to bring Coffinger home and Beshears brought Hawley home in the ensuing at-bat on a single lined back to the pitching circle.
