MSU improves to 13-21 (3-9 B1G) while Illinois falls to 16-20 (3-8 B1G). Knotted up at 1-1, the three-game series will be decided Sunday with a 1 PM ET / 12 PM CT contest.
Freshman Carsyn Cassady (3-1) fired a season-high 6.2 innings finishing one out away from her first career complete game. Cassady struck out one, allowing five earned runs on six hits. Senior Faith Guidry entered with two outs in the seventh to earn her second save of the season.
Doloszycki paced the Spartan offense with her first career-multi home run game, driving in a career-best five baserunners. Junior Kaelin Cash tallied a multi-hit game with a single and a double, and junior Hannah Hawley reached base three times on a single and two walks. Sophomore Payton Conroy swiped two bases on Saturday with Doloszycki and freshman Ava Coffinger each stealing one.
It was Doloszycki who broke a scoreless tie in the top of the third inning with a two-run shot over the fence in left center field. She continued to make her mark on the field defensively in the bottom of the third when she crashed into the wall in center to record the final out of the inning and strand two Illini runners on base.

A chaotic start to the fourth inning saw the Spartans score two runs on a fielder's choice and a double steal to lead 4-0. With two runners on base, Doloszycki stepped up the blast and blasted another home run to left field, her second of the day, giving the Spartans a 7-0 lead. Illinois put its first run on the board in the fourth on a bases loaded walk.

Michigan State quickly recorded back-to-back Illini outs in the bottom of the seventh but a solo homer off the bat of Stevie Meade sparked some life into Illinois. A second home run in the inning three batters later cut the Spartan lead to 7-5 before Guidry entered the record the final out for MSU to pick up the save.
