
MSU Men’s Tennis Concludes Competitive Weekend at ITA Midwest Regionals

Four Michigan State players competed in singles and doubles action against top programs in region.
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State men's tennis wrapped up competition at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships this past weekend in Chicago, Illinois, with action being played at XS Tennis Village.
Spartan sophomores Vuk Radjenovic and Danial Rakhmatullayev, junior Taym Alazmeh, and senior David Saye represented the Green & White in both singles and doubles play.
Radjenovic opened singles action strong with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Evan Lee (Notre Dame). He proceeded to advance in the bracket with a 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 win over Wisconsin's Patrik Meszaros before his run ended against Ohio State's Alex Okonkwo, 6-1, 6-2.
In doubles play, Radjenovic partnered with Saye, while Alazmeh partnered with Rakhmatullayev. Both Spartan duos earned wins to advance through the early rounds.
Radjenovic/Saye defeated Youngstown State's Oscar Gippet/Mihai David Haita, 8-1. They advanced in the bracket and defeated Jonas Keck/Chen Hui Ho (WMU), 8-4. The Spartan duo fought hard, but fell 8-1 to Alexander Bernard/Alex Okonkwo (Ohio State).
Alazmeh/Rakhmatullayev began their doubles competition with an 8-3 win over Michigan's Nicholas Steiglehner/Pierce Shaya before falling 8-6 to Ohio State's Loren Byers and Jack Anthrop after a hard fight.
Michigan State will return to action at the ITA Sectionals, held in Ann Arbor, Michigan from Nov. 6-9.
