
Spartan Track & Field Captures 14 Titles During Split Meet Weekend

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State track & field captured 14 event titles in a split weekend at the Simmons-Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor and at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open in Allendale.
The Simmons-Harvey Invitational was a scored meet. The Michigan State men finished second with 102.5 points, just behind Michigan's 105.5 points. The Spartan women were also second with 109 points with the Wolverines winning with 126.

Logan Allen got the Spartans started with a pair of wins. He won both 60m (6.79) and the 60m hurdles (7.93). He led the way with 14 points overall for the Michigan State. Kaia Scheffler finished second in the 60m hurdles (8.56), while Amani Nuels was second in the 60m dash (7.49).
In the men's 400m, Noah Sage continued his strong start to the season with his second victory in as many weeks. Sage set a new Simmons-Harvey Invitational record with a time of 46.86. Henry Shaieb was third, crossing the line in 48.62.
In the women's 400m, Elizabeth Anderson was second (57.20) and Alexys Wilson finished fourth (57.56). Shae Harbaugh took first in the 600m with a time of 1:32.43.
Kate Stewart-Barnett continued the winning ways for the Spartans, winning the 800m with a PR time of 2:07.61. Sarah Forsyth was third (2:10.45), while Madison Osterberg finished fourth (2:13.13). In the men's 800m, Timothy Cherry (1:50.78) and Kyle Eberhard (1:52.08), took second and third place, respectively.
Michigan State added another first-place medal when Olivia Millen won the mile race with a personal best time of 4:43.96. Sophia Lucki was second in the 3000m race with a time of 9:35.95, while Andrew Lane was third in the men's 3000m (8:13.40).

In the field events, Elle Adrian won her first title of the indoor season with a meet and personal record in the weight throw with a winning throw of 21.39m. Valadian Pallett was second also topping the meet record and setting a new PR with a throw of 21.09m.Â
Sophia Mettes captured first in the women's pole vault with a long jump of 4.00m. Natalie Blake took second with a vault of 3.85m. In the men's pole vault, Landon Cosby finished third with a jump of 4.80m.
In the men's long jump Carter Bissell (6.97m) and Jalen Nelson (6.85m) finished second and third, respectively. Brady Schultz added to the Spartans' haul with a meet record and a new personal best in the high jump with a jump of 2.14m with Andrew Harding finishing third (2.00m).
Leila Barmore finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 12.36m
The Spartans ended the day with another Victory for MSU with Colby Morlock winning the men's shot put (18.49m), while Dillon Morlock was second (18.37m).
GVSU Bob Eubanks Open
At the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open, Melanie Macias made the podium, finishing first in the women's 600m (1:37.25) with a PR, while Sydnee Sinn was second in the 800m (2:15.72). In the women's shot put, Savannah Breitwiser set a new personal best with a throw of 12.52m to finish third.
On the men's side, Nathan Larson won with a PR time of 8:24.23. His previous best was 8:24.49 at the Michigan Invitational last season. Matthew Zeleke (8:31.98) and Drew Seabase (8:32.81) finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
Owen Gilbert as captured a win in the 800m with a season-best time of 1:54.25.
