UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Michigan State wrestling opened Big Ten competition on Friday night at No. 1-ranked Penn State, falling 55-0 at Rec Hall. The Spartan lineup featured several wrestlers making their season dual debut, with multiple competitors moving up weight classes due to injury.
MSU moves to 2-2 (0-1 B1G) in dual meet action this season and welcomes Maryland to Jenison Field House on Sunday to conclude the opening B1G dual weekend. Action on Sunday gets underway at 1:00 p.m. with live stream available via B1G+.
Redshirt sophomore 125-pounder Nick Corday, redshirt junior Ryan Boucher and true freshman Cory Thomas each made their first dual appearance for MSU this season, with Thomas also making his career dual debut for the Spartans. Boucher and Thomas each bumped up one weight class from their usual competitive weights tonight as Michigan State battled adversity.
