No. 20 Michigan State Travels to Rutgers for Regular-Season Road Finale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -Â 20th-ranked Michigan State women's soccer (9-3-3, 4-1-2 B1G) concludes its three-game road stretch at Rutgers (7-5-3, 3-3-1 B1G) on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 1 p.m. at Rutgers' Yurcak Field.

FIRST TOUCH
The Spartans enter Sunday's match at 9-3-3 (4-1-2 B1G) after battling to a 1-1 draw at No. 25 Indiana on Oct. 12. After falling behind in the first half against the Hoosiers, the Spartans tied the game in the opening minutes of the second half with a goal from senior midfielder Justina Gaynor. Freshman forward/midfielder Bella Najera added an assist.
Senior midfielder Regan Dalton is the current Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week after recording a pair of assists in MSU's win at then-No. 14 Michigan on Oct. 7.
In the league standings, MSU sits in a tie for third alongside Nebraska and Indiana with 14 points. The Scarlet Knights join Michigan and Ohio State in a three-way tie for sixth with 10 points.

Rutgers is led by 10th-year head coach Mike O'Neill, who holds a 134-42-34 record during his time with the Scarlet Knights. The Scarlet Knights enter Sunday's match at 7-5-3 (3-3-1 B1G) after securing a 2-0 victory at home against Michigan on Oct. 12. Senior forward Allison Lowrey leads Rutgers in scoring (15) and total goals (6), while junior forward Riley Tiernan leads in assists (4). Both players were Third-Team All-Big Ten honorees last season. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Olivia Bodmer posts a .818 goals-against average and a .815 save percentage.

Rutgers holds a 9-1-0 edge in the series, including an unblemished 5-0-0 record in Piscataway. MSU's only victory in the series came in a 1-0 win on Oct. 23 last season in East Lansing to close out the regular season. Sunday's match will be the final regular-season road match for the Spartans, who will look to extend their unbeaten streak on the road to six matches.
