No. 20 Spartans Travel to No. 25 Indiana Thursday

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - 20th-ranked Michigan State women's soccer (9-3-2, 4-1-1 B1G) continues its three-game road stretch at No. 25 Indiana (10-1-3, 4-1-1 B1G) on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Bloomington.

FIRST TOUCH
The Spartans enter Thursday's match at 9-3-2 (4-1-1 B1G) after knocking off then-No. 14 Michigan, 3-2, on the road on Oct. 7. The win marked the first for MSU in Ann Arbor since Oct. 21, 1994, and was the first win over a ranked opponent for the Spartans this season. Junior forward Jordyn Wickes scored a pair of goals in the win against the Wolverines, while senior midfielder Gabby Mueller also added a first-half goal. Freshman forward/midfielder Bella Najera and senior midfielder Regan Dalton added assists. Dalton earned Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and TopDrawerSoccer National Team of Week honorable mention honors this week for her performance at Michigan.
The Spartans and Hoosiers currently sit in a three-way tie for second in the league standings with 13 points each, joined by Wisconsin.

Indiana is led by fifth-year head coach Erwin van Bennekom, who holds a 36-27-17 record during his time in Bloomington. The Hoosiers enter Thursday's match at 10-1-3 (4-1-1 B1G) after earning a 1-0 win at Purdue on Oct. 8. Graduate forward Paige Webber leads IU in points (26) and goals (11) this season. Her 26 total points rank 11th in the NCAA, while her goal total also sits in a tie for 11th in the NCAA. IU junior goalkeeper Jamie Gerstenberg posts the third-best goals-against average in the league (.593).
The Hoosiers are unbeaten at home this season.

Saturday's match marks the 31st all-time between the Spartans and Hoosiers. Indiana holds a 19-9-2 edge in the series, including a 9-3-1 record in Bloomington. MSU has won the last two contests between the two squads, most recently earning a 1-0 win last season on Oct. 13 in East Lansing. The Spartans also notched a 1-0 victory in 2021 in Bloomington. Current senior Zivana Labovic scored the lone goal in the Spartans' victory last season. Prior to 2021, MSU had dropped four-straight to the Hoosiers, its last win coming in 2015.
