EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State track & field returns to Bloomington, Indiana for the Big Ten Indiana Invite #4/Billy Hayes Invitational on April 30-May 1 at the Billy Hayes Track & Field Complex.
"Heading into the last couple of meets before the Big Ten Championships, I want to see our student-athletes continue to engage and support one another. I want to see them immerse themselves in the competition and have fun," Interim Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Lisa Breznau said. "Heading back to Bloomington is a great opportunity to compete in a familiar environment as well as get into a competitive routine. Our student-athletes will translate that to future competition elsewhere."
The meet will begin on Friday, April 30 with a limited schedule. Events start on the track with the women's 3000m steeplechase at 7:30 p.m. Aimee Piercy and Casey Mossholder will represent the Spartans in the event. The day will end with the women's and men's 5000m races beginning at 8 p.m.
On Saturday, the field events will begin with the women's hammer at 1 p.m., along with the women's long jump. On the track, the women's 4x100m relay will start the action at 2:45 p.m.
Currently, Michigan State has seven men who have reached East Regional Qualifying marks. This number includes Morgan Beadlescomb qualifying in both the 1500m and the 5000m, while Jerimiah Evans has qualified in both the discus and the shot put. "We are just wrapping up final exams, and we've been competing in a unique time. I hope to see our team stay the course, not let up, and take care of their details around recovery to be at their best," Breznau said.
The Spartans conclude the regular season at the Paddock Open in Ann, Arbor, Michigan on May 8..
