EAST LANSING, Mich. --Â Michigan State's swimming & diving teams will travel to Oxford, Ohio to compete against Miami University (Ohio) and the University of Cincinnati on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m.
The Bearcats are coming off a strong conference season last year. The men were named back-to-back AAC conference champions and the women finished the 2018-19 season with a second-place finish behind Houston.Â
"They've got a good team. Mandy Commons-Disalle is a good coach and their men's team is really put together and the women are too," said head coach Matt Gianiodis. "We'll have our hands full. They're pretty strong all the way across the board."
Â
Miami University also had a successful finish to their conference season. The men finished in first-place in the MAC conference for the first time since 2006 and the women took fourth overall.
"Holly Bonewit-Cron's got a nice team too. Their women are solid, and we swam against them two years ago up here," said Gianiodis. "They've got a really nice pool and we're looking forward to that. For me, it's cool being in a meet where the two other programs are being led by women head coaches."
The Spartan men are looking to capture their first win of the season. The Spartans were led by sophomore Jonathan Lee, junior Aidan Farley and senior Michael Schwers in their season opener against Iowa as they each took home a first-place finish.
Continuing off of a win against Northern Iowa last week, the women's team is ready to get in the water and compete again. Stepping up for the Michigan State was freshman Emma Inch, who took home two second-place finishes in their tri-meet with Iowa and Northern Iowa.
Michigan State's divers, Amanda Ling and Erin Neely, look to build off their NCAA qualifying dives from last week's competition.
Â
"We just want to build off what we did last weekend and hopefully keep building week-to-week and trying to get better," said Gianiodis.
Live stats from Saturday's meet can be on MeetMobile and fans can also follow along on Twitter, @MSUswim&dive. Results can be found at the conclusion of the meet at msuspartans.com.
