EAST LANSING, Mich. -Â The Michigan State swimming and diving program will travel to Oakland University for its final road meet of the season on Saturday, Jan. 19 at 1 p.m.
"Pete Hovland, he's a Michigan Sports Hall of Fame coach so he knows what he's doing," head coach Matt Gianiodis said. "They really enjoy swimming against us and we enjoy swimming against them so we're going to have to be ready. It's really good for us too because it gives us a real preview of the intensity that comes along at the Big Ten Championship meet."
Last Friday against Big Ten opponent Purdue, Michael Schwers placed in two events, the 200 medley relay and 100 butterfly, where he took second and third, respectively.
Erin Szara also placed in two events against the Boilermakers including the 200 medley relay and the 100 breaststroke. She finished second in the medley and third in the breaststroke.
Claiming the first victory for the Spartans was Aidan Farley in the 200 freestyle.
Scott Piper also swam to a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly. Early this season, Piper took fourth at the Northwestern Invitational and tenth at the USA Winter Nationals in the 200 butterfly.
Live stats from Saturday's meet can be found on Meet Mobile and results will be available at msuspartans.com following the conclusion of the contest.
