EAST LANSING -- Michigan State women's golf head coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll was inducted into the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday (Sept. 26) night at Van Andel Arena. Slobodnik-Stoll was part of an eight-member class that also included David Harris, Chris Kaman, Gene Paxton, Jim Haskins, and the Paganelli family of football officials, Carl Sr., Carl Jr., Perry and Dino.
Â
Slobodnik-Stoll is in her 22nd season as head coach of the Spartans. Over her tenure in guiding her alma mater, the Spartans have captured seven Big Ten titles, made 19 NCAA Regional appearances, 11 NCAA Championship appearances and won 37 tournaments. The Kentwood native has been named Big Ten Coach of the Year five times and coached seven All-Americans.
Â
Under Slobodnik-Stoll's watch, the Spartans have been equally as successful in the classroom as the Spartans have had the highest team GPA at MSU for seven consecutive years. In her tenure, Spartan student-athletes have earned Academic All-Big Ten honors on 93 occasions and Women's Golf Coaches Association All-Scholar honors 41 times.
Â
Tuesday marked the third hall of fame in which Slobodnik-Stoll has been inducted into in the last year. She was enshrined in the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in June 2017 and then the Women's Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame in December 2017.
Â
Alongside her coaching duties, Slobodnik-Stoll also continues to play golf and is the winningest amateur golfer in Golf Association of Michigan history.
Â
The Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame honors prominent West Michigan athletes and those who have contributed greatly to sports on a local, state or national level, and presents annual events in support of West Michigan athletics, local youth organizations and charities. Plaques commemorate the members of the Hall of Fame at Van Andel Arena.
