ITA All-American Championships Results
TULSA, Okla. - Seniors Michael Dube and Brett Forman took on the tall task of representing the Spartans at the 2017 Saint Francis Health System ITA All-American Championships from Sept. 30 to Oct. 3 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This marked Michigan State's first appearance at ITA All-American Championships since 2013.
"All in all, this tournament was a success for both Mike and Brett. To get wins against the best in the nation is always good, but to do it this early in the season is a great sign for us," MSU assistant coach Harry Jadun said. "We will learn from this experience and continue to get better in preparation for our spring season and beyond."
After a bye in the first round of the pre-qualifying draw, Dube kicked off competition for the Green and White against Jon Meyer of Nebraska on Saturday. Dube defeated Meyer, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to Sunday's competition. Dube was downed in his next match against Grayson Goldin of South Florida, 6-1, 7-5.
On Monday, Forman faced Niclas Braun from Mississippi State in the first round of the qualifying draw. Braun came out on top, 6-2, 6-4 to end Forman's main draw run. In qualifying consolation on Tuesday, Forman defeated his first ranked opponent of the season with a win over Wisconsin's No. 92 Josef Dodrige (6-0, 6-1).
Up next, the men's tennis team will travel to South Bend, Indiana for the Bobby Bayliss Invitational from Oct. 6-Oct. 8.
