
Spartans defeated by Michigan

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State (11-13, 2-5) fell to instate rival Michigan (4-14, 1-6) on Wednesday, 4-3.
"It was another great battle with Michigan," head coach Gene Orlando said.
The Spartans won the doubles point, with the pairs of Harry Jadun and John Patrick Mullane and Gijs Linders and Mac Roy winning their matches, at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.
The Wolverines then took the first two singles points, as Runhao Hua won the No. 3 singles point and Carter Lin took the match at No. 6 singles.
Michigan State responded by taking the next two singles matches. Mac Roy defeated Davis Crocker, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3, at No. 5 singles, and Gijs Linders took the No. 1 singles match, 6-2, 7-6 (7-2), to make the score 3-2 MSU.
The Spartans then fell in successive tiebreakers. Alex Knight won the No. 4 singles point, 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (7-4), and moments later Alex Petrone took the No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-4).
"We have to pick ourselves up off the mat," Orlando said. "We have to go out there and get the next one."
Michigan State hosts Wisconsin on Saturday at 12 p.m.
