
No. 35 Boilermakers Stop No. 43 Spartans, 6-1

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- No. 35 Purdue was too much for No. 43 Michigan State on Sunday, defeating MSU, 6-1. Michigan State moves to 16-5 on the year and 5-3 in the Big Ten.
"We got beat by a good team," said head coach Simone Jardim. "Purdue just played better today. There was some improvement in doubles, and we will continue to work hard to finish the season strong."
In doubles play, Purdue's Daniela Vidal and Andjela Djokovic defeated senior Catherine Parenteau and sophomore Athena Trouillot at No. 2 doubles, 8-5. At No. 3 doubles, Nicole Robinson and Kriztina Kapitany of Purdue defeated freshman Lexi Baylis and junior Emily Meyers, 8-5.
Lexi Baylis recorded the Spartans only victory of the day at No. 2 singles, over Purdue's Tess Bernard-Feigenbaum, 6-4, 6-1. Baylis is now 29-6 on the year in singles play.
At No. 1 singles, sophomore Erin Faulkner fell to Daniela Vidal 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Aslina Chua lost to Lynda Xepoleas at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0. Purdue won the third-set tiebreaker, 10-7.
Catherine Parenteau was defeated at No. 4 singles by Nicole Robinson, 6-1, 6-4, while at No. 5 singles, Athena Trouillot was beat by Krisztina Kapitany, 6-3, 6-3.
Finally, Emily Meyers fell at No. 6 singles to the Boilermakers' Andjela Djokovic, 6-2, 6-1.
Michigan State will see action again on Friday, April 10 as they travel to Ann Arbor to face the No. 14 Michigan Wolverines. The action will begin at 3:30 p.m. from the Varsity Tennis Center.
