Linders Named First-Team All-Big Ten

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Gijs Linders was named first-team All-Big Ten on Thursday as the conference announced its awards for 2014-15 season.
Linders owns a 16-17 mark at No. 1 singles, including 5-6 in the Big Ten. He faced 13 members of the current ITA top 125, including five of the top 25 and 12 of the top 100. The native of Amsterdam, Netherlands, is one of 12 student-athletes selected to the first team.
The Sportsmanship Award also went to Linders. One student-athlete from each of the 12 schools is honored. The student-athletes chosen have distinguished themselves through their ethical behavior and sportsmanship.
Michigan State opens action in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday against Nebraska in the first round at 3 p.m. ET.
