EAST LANSING, Mich. - Senior Elizabeth Brown led a group of Spartan swimmers at the AT&T Winter Nationals from Dec. 3-5 in Federal Way, Washington. Brown took seventh in the C Finals of the 200-meter butterfly.
Brown earned a spot in the finals after taking 23rd in the prelims with a 2:16.74. She opened the race in 1:05.56 through 100 meters. In the C finals, Brown tapped the wall in 2:16.62, bettering her performance from earlier in the competition. She was narrowly beat out by fellow Big Ten swimmer Meg Bailey of Ohio State.
Junior Alec Kandt swam in a pair of races over the weekend, clocking a 2:09.57 and 1:04.03 in the 200-meter IM and 100-meter breaststroke, respectively. Kandt's best finish was in the 200 breaststroke, where he took 27th with a 2:20.06.
Racing in the 100-meter backstroke, senior Ian Rodriguez finished in 44th with a 57.69, while junior Adam Marsh took 71st with an effort of 59.98. Marsh's weekend concluded in the 200 backstroke, clocking a 2:12.34 for 53rd.
Senior Marina Borri swam to a 46th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke, turning in a 2:39.04.
Michigan State returns as a team at Ohio State on Jan. 15 at 6 p.m.
