
Spartans Conclude Action at Big Ten Indoor Championships

IOWA CITY, Iowa â€" Four Spartans came away with wins in consolation action of the singles draw at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Sunday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex.
After losing in the first round on Saturday in the main draw, Alexander Kim won his first consolation match over Nebraska's Andrew Dzulynsky, 6-4, 6-4, on Saturday afternoon, and then prevailed over Wisconsin's Jose Carranza in a three-set marathon on Sunday, 6-4, 4-6, 11-9, to go 2-1 in the singles portion of the tournament.
Colin Harvey also won in impressive fashion on Sunday for his second win in singles action. Harvey edged Scott Elsass of Nebraska, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 10-6.
Michael Dube, who advanced to the round of 32 yesterday, defeated Iowa's Tony Lato, 6-2, 6-1, to close the singles tournament at 2-1.
Ivan Rakic defeated Indiana's Alek Davila in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, for his first victory in the tournament after falling twice on Saturday.
MSU returns to action for the dual season beginning on Saturday, Jan. 16 at Notre Dame.
