
Swimming & Diving Trails Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The MSU men's and women's swimming and diving teams are trailing the Boilermakers after two days of competition at Purdue. The men's team trails, 134-50, and the women trail the No. 19 Boilermakers, 145-39.
"I think our kids our doing well," said head coach Matt Gianiodis. "We had some good times today, Purdue is a really good team. I am excited to see how we do tomorrow in some more traditional events."
Purdue started day two of the three-day meet by sweeping both the men's and women's 200 medley and 800 free relays. The Boilermaker divers also started strong, taking first in all four diving events. Senior Cristee Cordes finished in second in the women's 3-meter, with a score of 313.05.
Senior Shelby Lacy started the evening session by taking third in the women's 100 IM with a time of 1:00.00. Sophomore Kennedy Cutler finished immediately after at 1:00.01. Lacy also finished third in the 50 breast, with a time of 29.90.
In the men's 100 IM, junior Ian Rodriguez finished in fourth, clocking in at 51.89.
Freshman Madison Nowak record the fastest time for MSU in the women's 50 back. Nowak finished with a time of 27.48.
In the women's 50 butterfly, sophomore Sarah Love finished in second with a 25.88 time.
The Spartans took three of the top four times in the men's 50 butterfly. Junior Jacob Moore finished in second (22.65), freshman Alex Trompke finished in third (22.77), and junior Nate Weeks at fourth at (23.46).
Freshman Connor Lamb finished men's 400 IM in second place. He finished with a time of 4:03.89.
The Spartans return to action on Saturday at noon to wrap-up the three-day meet with the Boilermakers.
