EAST LANSING, Mich. - After a successful start to the 2014 season at last week's Central Michigan Jeff Drenth Memorial, the Michigan State men's and women's cross country teams will return to action tomorrow night at the Bill Dellinger Invitational. The event will be hosted by the University of Oregon and will get underway with the women's 6K race at 8:45 p.m. ET, followed by the men's 8K race at approximately 9:15 p.m. ET.
The women's race will feature five teams, including two current top-10 squads, No. 2 Oregon and No. 6 Michigan State. The Spartans will be led by 2014 NCAA steeplechase champion Leah O'Connor as well as returning All-Big Ten runners Katie Landwehr, Lindsay Clark and Rachele Schulist. West Region teams Oregon State, Portland and Portland State will also compete.
American University of the Mid-Atlantic Region will join Michigan State, Portland State and third-ranked Oregon on the men's side. Returning All-American Caleb Rhynard of MSU will look to keep pace with the Ducks' Edward Cheserek, who won the NCAA cross country title as a freshman in 2013. The Spartan men's squad is currently receiving votes in the NCAA Rankings and is the No. 5-ranked team in the Great Lakes Region.
