Women's Tennis Finishes Day Two of Wildcat Invite

Sept. 27, 2014 EVANSTON, Ill. - The Michigan State women's tennis team won six singles matches and five doubles matches on Saturday in the second day of the Wildcat Invite, hosted by Northwestern.
In Draw A singles, Oklahoma was taken down by a pair of Spartan sophomores. Athena Trouillot defeated the Sooners' Chumney, 6-4, 6-4, and Erin Faulkner defeated Melrose of Oklahoma, 6-0, 1-6, 10-7.
Spartan freshman Lexi Baylis got a pair of wins on Saturday, defeating Kuhle of Western Michigan, 6-2, 6-0, and Pitt's Castro, 6-2, 6-4.
Draw B brought more success to the Spartans; junior Emily Meyers defeated UIC's LeBlanc, 6-3, 6-4. Freshman Colleen O'Brien was also victorious, defeating Western Michigan's Perninovich, 6-3, 6-3.
Senior Catherine Parenteau and freshman Allie Baer came out victorious in the Draw A doubles bracket against Ashby and Kuhle of Western Michigan, 8-5, and also took down the Pitt Panther team of Ogungbesan and Castro, 8-2. The team of Faulkner and Trouillot also beat the duo of Martinovska and Supejova of Eastern Michigan, 8-4.
In Draw B singles senior Hilary Hager and freshman Aslina Chua defeated Eastern Michigan's Friedrichs and Almonya 8-4, and the team of Meyers and Baylis beat Florida International's Brozovich and Briceno 8-5.
The final day of competition at the Wildcat Invite begins Sunday morning at 10 a.m. ET at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
