EAST LANSING, Mich- The Spartans picked up their first Big Ten win of the season Sunday beating Nebraska, 3-1. With the win the Spartans improved their record to 7-5-1, and 1-5-1 in the Big Ten. Michigan State will look to make it two straight when they make the trip to West Lafayette Saturday to take on the Purdue Boilermakers. Purdue enters the contest losers of their last five and looking to get back on track after starting the season 6-2-1.
LAST TIME OUT
After going scoreless in four of their previous five games, the Spartans had an offensive outburst for three goals, winning 3-1. at home against the Huskers The three goals is the largest offensive output the Spartans have had since Oct. 18, 2013. Jamie Cheslik, Mary Katheryn Fiebernitz and Megan Marsack each had a goal for the Spartans.
CLEM MAKING STOPS
Fifth-year senior goalkeeper Courtney Clem continues to impress for the Spartans. The Williamston, Michigan native leads the Big Ten in saves with 74, and is second in the conference in save percentage (.871).
FRESHMAN PHENOM
Freshman forward Jamie Cheslik leads the Spartans in scoring seven goals, two assists and 16 points. The Northville, Michigan native is tied for sixth in the Big Ten in goals and is tied for seventh in total points. Cheslik also continues to lead all Big Ten freshman in goals and points.

Michigan State leads the Big Ten in saves with 80, which is 17 more than second place Purdue, who has 63.
Mary Kathryn Fiebernitz has converted on all three of her penalty kick attempts this season ... Fiebernitz was 3-for-3 last season and has scored on all six career attempts.
Michigan State is 6-0-0 when scoring first, and 4-0-0 when leading at the half.
MSU has now allowed just 12 goals through 13 games... The Spartans have outscored the opposition, 19-12, this season.
Seven different Spartans have combined to score this season... 29 different players have played for the Spartans this season; including three freshman (Yehwah, Cheslik, McKerchie)
Prior to allowing a goal in the 67th minute against IPFW on Sept. 5, MSU had gone 351 minutes without surrendering a goal.
Michigan State is tied for third in the Big Ten in assists and assists per game with 21 and 1.62 respectively.
MEET THE PURDUE BOILERMAKERS
The Purdue Boilermakers are coming off a tough 4-0 loss to Rutgers on Sunday, and have now dropped five straight and boast a record of 6-7-1, 2-6-0 B1G. Purdue returns sophomore forward Maddy Williams, who scored ten goals and 26 points as a true freshman a year ago. Williams is once again the team leader in scoring with five goals and 15 points. The Boilermakers are coached by Robert Klatte, who has produced a record of 156-104-32 for a .589 winning percentage during his 16 year tenure in West Lafayette.
