TULSA, Okla. -- John Patrick Mullane and Brett Forman wrapped up the ITA All-American Championships with the doubles qualifying on Tuesday.
Texas A&M's AJ Cantanzariti and Max Lunkin defeated Mullane and Forman, 6-3, 7-5.
"We had solid opportunities in the matches we lost," head coach Gene Orlando said. "We'll take it as a learning experience; we'll take positives out of the tournament moving forward, and they will help us in our next tournament."
Mullane and Forman both had deep runs in singles pre-qualifying play, with Mullane qualifying for the main singles draw.
Mullane, the No. 7 seed in the pre-qualifying round, earned a first round bye. He won all three of his matches to advance to the main qualifying stage. Mullane fell in the first round to Columbia's Ashok Narayana, 7-5, 7-6(7).
Forman knocked off No. 25 seed Trey Daniel of TCU during his run to the fourth and final round of pre-qualifying. In his last pre-qualifying match, Forman came up short against the No. 15 seed, Oklahoma's Alex Ghilea, 2-6, 7-6(9), 6-1.
"Overall, it was a solid performance by both of our players," said Orlando. "They were competing against the nation's best, it was a solid tournament for them."
