Men's Tennis Defeats Iowa

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team (15-10, 4-5) returned home this weekend for their final two home matches of the season. Today the Spartans took on Big Ten opponent Iowa and came away with a 6-1 win. MSU swept in doubles to win the point before taking five of the six singles matches, winning all of them in two straight sets.
MSU took all three doubles matches to win the first point of the match. On court one Aaron Pfister and Drew Lied defeated Swank and Dunn 8-4. Right behind them with another win was Austin Brooks and Harry Jadun over Dierckx and Hagan 8-4. The final match was won by Gijs Linders and Denis Bogatov on court three with an 8-5 score.
The Spartans won the first two singles points with the first win coming for Gijs Linders on court six as he defeated Tomlins 6-3, 6-2. Next to win for the Spartans was Austin Brooks on court five as he came away with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Mroziewicz. On court two Denis Bogatov came up with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Vasos.
Michigan State continued with their winning streak as Aaron Pfister came away with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Hagan on court one. Ronnie Hulewicz picked up the next point for the Spartans on court three with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Dierckx. The final match of the day was the closest going into three sets on court four. After dropping the first set 6-4 Drew Lied came back to win the second set 6-3 before falling 6-1 in the final set to Dunn.
The Spartans host their final home match of the season tomorrow at noon against Nebraska. Weather permitting the match will take place at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
