
Men's Golf Finishes Seventh at Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Michigan State men's golf team concluded action at the 2012 Seminole Intercollegiate on Sunday, finishing seventh. The Spartans shot a three-day total of 10-over par 862 (287-287-288) at Southwood Golf Course.
Final Results
"I thought we played better than yesterday, but didn't finish the round and that cost us a couple spots in the field," said Spartan head coach Casey Lubahn. "I am encouraged by the consistent play of Chris Mory, Dan Ellis and Dave Ellis. We will continue to get sharper when we get more reps in the spring season."
Junior Dan and Dave Ellis led the Spartans this weekend, tying for 25th at 1-over par 214. Dan Ellis (74-70-70) had the best round for MSU today with a 1-under par 70, posting three birdies and 13 pars on the day. Dave Ellis (71-72-71) was even today with a 71 and ended up leading the Spartans this weekend with 11 birdies.
Senior Chris Mory was a shot behind the Ellis twins, tying for 29th at 2-over par 215 (71-71-73). Rounding out the Spartan lineup, junior Matthew Moseley tied for 45th at 7-over 220 (71-74-75) and freshman McCormick Clouser tied for 75th at 13-over 226 (77-75-74).
No. 28 Florida State, the tournament host, came from behind to top No. 8 Georgia Tech by one shot. The Seminoles shot a final round 12-under par 272 for a 54-hole total of 23-under par 829. FSU's Brooks Koepka won the individual title with a score of 9-under par 204.
The Spartans return to action on Match 23-25 at the FAU Spring Break Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.
