
Cross Country Announces 2011 Schedule

EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State director of cross country and track & field Walt Drenth announced today (Aug. 10) the Spartans' 2011 schedule. The Spartans feature four races within the state of Michigan, including their annual Spartan Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16 at Forest Akers East Golf Course.
MSU opens its season with the yearly Jeff Drenth Memorial at Central Michigan on Friday, Sept. 2. Following the Spartan Invitational, the Green and White travels to Notre Dame, Ind., for the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 30.
The month of October opens with the Spartans at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships in Hillsdale, Mich., on Oct. 7, followed by the Wisconsin adidas Invitational on Oct. 14 in Madison, Wis. MSU concludes pre-championship racing with the EMU Fall Classic on Oct. 21 in Dexter, Mich.
The Green and White opens championships season when the women defend their Big Ten title on Friday, Oct. 28 in Champaign, Ill. The men will precede the women with racing starting at 11:45 a.m. ET.
The Spartans begin NCAA racing with the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships on Saturday, Nov. 12, an event both the men and women have won with the past two seasons, followed by the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday, Nov. 21 in Terre Haute, Ind.
