
Diving Opens Competition at NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Michigan State diving team concluded the first day of action at the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals in Columbus, Ohio on Thursday, March 10. Both senior Ivan Zalessov and junior Ashley Borgman advanced to the finals on the 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively.
Zalessov posted a score of 317.35 after his first six dives to advance into the finals of the 1-meter springboard in 10th place. In the finals, Zalessov posted a 311.55 mark to move his total score to 628.90 points for 11th place overall. Purdue's David Boudia led all divers with a score of 819.05.
Borgman advanced to the finals in 16th place after the first six dives with a score of 263.45 on the 3-meter springboard. Borgman finished finals with a 259.70 mark, improving her total score to 523.15 as she placed 18th overall. Gabriella Agostino of Indiana was first with a score of 706.30.
Also participating on the 3-meter were juniors Sarah Clay, Jordan Jackson, Brooke Sauchak and freshman Cristee Cordes. Clay placed 25th overall with a score of 243.30 while Jackson finished 29th with a 240.60 mark. Cordes concluded action in 31st (233.20) and Sauchak in 47th (195.25).
Action continues for MSU with day two of the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals on Friday, March 11 when the men compete on the 3-meter and the women proceed to the 1-meter. Action begins at 1 p.m. ET inside the McCorkle Aquatics Pavilion.
