
Diving Concludes Day Two of NCAA Zone C Regionals

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Michigan State diving team concluded day two of action at the NCAA Zone C Diving Regionals in Columbus, Ohio on Friday, March 11. Junior Sarah Clay led the Spartans on the day on the 1-meter springboard with a 10th-place finish.
Clay advanced to finals after scoring 270.15 points in the opening rounds, placing 14th after the first six dives. The Fishers, Ind., native responded in the next six dives with a 285.75 mark to improve to 10th place overall with a total score of 555.90.
Senior Ivan Zalessov was the lone male diver on the 3-meter springboard and placed 17th overall on the event. The Okemos, Mich., native posted a score of 320.95 to advance into the finals in 18th place. In the final six dives, Zalessov posted a score of 311.05 for 17th place overall with 320.00 points.
Juniors Ashley Borgman, Jordan Jackson, Brooke Sauchak and Freshman Cristee Cordes joined Clay in the 1-meter competition. Borgman placed 24th overall with a score of 249.20 while Jackson was 28th with 239.20 points. Cordes and Sauchak rounded out the Spartans in 43rd (208.05) and 48th (193.55), respectively.
Zalessov concludes action tomorrow for MSU when he will compete on the 10-meter platform.
