Women's Golf Tied for Sixth at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Michigan State women's golf team moved up four spots on the leaderboard and is tied for sixth at the Landfall Tradition after shooting a 308 in Saturday's second round. The Spartans are at 620 (312-308) entering Sunday's third and final round.
Junior Caroline Powers is tied for fourth with a 6-over 150 (73-77) and is in contention for medalist honors, five shots back from leader Victoria Trapani of Auburn.
Senior Lindsey Solberg remained in a tie for 13th place with her 77 on Saturday. Through two rounds, Solberg is at 9-over 153 (76-77).
Sophomore Christine Meier shot the best round of the day for the Spartans with a 75. For the tournament, Meier is tied for 50th with a 159 (84-75).
Sophomore Allyssa Ferrell (80-82) and freshman Trisha Witherby (83-79) are both tied for 67th at 162.
Purdue carded a 303 in the second round to move into first place on the team leaderboard. Six of the 18 teams in the elite tournament are ranked in the Golfweek Top 25 rankings, and 15 are ranked in the top 50.
