Women's Golf Concludes Fall Season at Landfall Tradition

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State women's golf team will play its fourth and final tournament of the fall season this weekend (Friday-Sunday, Oct. 28-30) at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. The event, which is in its 10th year, is being held at par 72, 6,208-yard Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall.
Six of the 18 teams in the tournament are ranked in the Golfweek Top 25 rankings, and 15 are ranked in the top 50. The 18 teams include: No. 3 Auburn, Chattanooga, No. 12 Duke, Florida State, Iowa State, Michigan State, Mississippi, No. 4 North Carolina, No. 16 North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Northwestern, No. 25 Ohio State, Purdue, South Carolina, Tulane, UNC-Wilmington, No. 23 Virginia and Wake Forest.
The 54-hole, five-count-four event will feature three days of single-round action, with play scheduled to begin daily at 8:30 a.m. Players will tee off in three-player waves from holes No.1 and No. 10 on Friday and Saturday before a shotgun start will mark the start of action for Sunday's final round.
The Spartans are coming off an eighth-place finish at the Tar Heel Invitational Oct. 7-9. Junior Caroline Powers shot a school-record 54-hole score at the tournament with an 8-under 208 to tie for second, and her second round of 68 tied for the lowest single-round in MSU history. Powers is currently ranked 15th in the nation and she leads the team with a 72.33 scoring average.
In addition to Powers, MSU's lineup will consist of senior Lindsey Solberg, sophomores Allyssa Ferrell and Christine Meier, and freshman Trisha Witherby.
