Newman Tied for Sixth at River Landing Intercollegiate

WALLACE, N.C. - Senior Jack Newman continued his solid final collegiate season, finishing in a tie for sixth today at the River Landing Intercollegiate in Wallace, N.C. It is Newman's fourth top-10 finish in seven stroke play events this season and the 12th in his career.
The Spartans finished eighth as a team with a 5-over par 869 (294-283-292), after today's 4-over par 292. UNC Wilmington took the title at 17-under par 847.
Newman wrapped up the final day today with a 3-under par 69 to conclude the weekend at 4-under par 212 (73-70-69). Fellow senior Andrew Ladwig was second for MSU and tied for 22nd overall at 1-over par 217 (75-70-72).
Freshman James Ross tied for 28th at 4-over 220 (75-70-75), while sophomore Chris Mory and freshman Matthew Moseley were among a group tied for 41st at 7-over 223. Both Mory and Moseley shot 4-over 76 today. Sophomore Dave Ellis, playing as an individual, tied for 56th at 11-over par 227 (80-74-73).
East Carolina's David Watkins claimed the individual title with a 9-under par 207 (71-69-67).
The Spartans return to competition on April 17-18 for the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz, Calif.
