Men's Golf Leads Fossum Invitational After Saturday's Play

EAST LANSING, Mich. - After 36 holes on Saturday at Forest Akers West Golf Course, the Michigan State men's golf team leads the 2010 Fossum Invitational by three shots over USC Upstate. Tomorrow's final 18 holes is scheduled to begin at 8:45 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
First and Second Round Results
The Spartans shot an 8-over par 584 (287-297) on their home course, led by a 3-under par 141 (67-74) from senior Jack Newman. Newman is in second, one stroke behind USC Upstate's Josh Gallman. He posted a tournament-high 11 birdies today.
Sophomore Jimmy Dewling, playing as an individual, and freshmen Matthew Moseley and James Ross, are tied for 10th with 3-over par 147. Dewling (72-75) had six birdies and an eagle in his first competitive tournament since early October. Ross had seven birdies, tied for fifth most in the field, while Moseley had four birdies and an eagle.
Sophomore Chris Mory is tied for 15th at 4-over 148 (75-74) and classmate Dan Ellis is tied for 22nd at 9-over 153 (75-78). Playing as individual, redshirt junior Derrick Williams (79-74) is tied with Dan Ellis. Rounding out the MSU individuals, sophomore Dave Ellis is tied for 27th at 10-over 154 (77-77), senior Andrew Ladwig is tied for 29th at 11-over 155 (82-73) and freshman Will Morris is 36th at 13-over 157 (77-80).
