
Men's Tennis Tops Western Michigan, 4-3

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team defeated Western Michigan, 4-3, on Wednesday, April 14 at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts. The win puts the Spartans at an overall record of 13-12 on the season.
The Spartans began the match by attaining the doubles point as No. 1 and 2 doubles picked up wins. At the No. 1 spot, sophomore Austin Brooks (Houston, Texas) and junior Clark Richardson (Leawood, Kan.) posted a win over Thomas Calderone and Michael Calderone, 9-7. Senior Joe Vallee (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) teamed together with junior John Stratton (Monroeville, N.J.) to defeat Zeyad Montasser and Kazuya Komada, 8-6.
Sophomore Ronnie Hulewicz (Tequesta, Fla.) battled at No. 1 singles to come out with the win over M. Calderone, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Denis Bogatov (Gurnee, Ill.) posted a win over Pablo Olivarez, 7-5, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot, while Stratton dominated at the No. 4 position with his win over Casey Cullen, 6-3, 6-2.
Michigan State will play its final home match of the 2010 season against Purdue on Saturday, April 17 at 12 p.m. at the MSU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
