EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Porsche Poole scored 12 points to lead a balanced attack for No. 25 Michigan State in a season-opening 90-62 victory over IPFW on Saturday.
Cetera Washington and Lykendra Johnson each had 11 points for the Spartans. Kalisha Keane, Jasmine Thomas and Kelsey Smith all added 10.
Michigan State led 22-13 with 8:06 left in the first half, then went on a 29-8 run for a 51-21 halftime lead.
The Spartans shot 55 percent from the field, including 50 percent on 3-point tries, scoring 30 points beyond the arc.
Stephanie Rosado led the Mastodons with 18 points on 5-for-16 shooting.

With the win...
- The Spartans improve to 26-13 all-time in season openers, including a 3-1 record under Coach Merchant.
- MSU improves to 31-8 in home openers.
- The Spartans improve to 213-78 all-time at the Breslin Center.

Player Notes:
- Redshirt freshman Kelsey Smith had an impressive collegiate debut, posting 10 points, five rebounds, and team highs with five assists and three blocks in only 20 minutes. She is the 20th Spartan to score 10 or more points in her debut, in addition to tying for the most blocks in a debut and the third most assists in their first game.
- Junior Porsche Poole scored a team-high 12 points, leading the Spartans in scoring for just the third time in her career. MSU is 3-0 in those games.
- Senior Cetera Washington scored 11 points in 17 minutes, topping double-figures for the first time since March 22, 2009, a span of 36 games. It was only her third career double-digit game. Washington also led MSU with seven rebounds, the sixth time in her career she has led the Spartans.
- Senior Brittney Thomas moves into a tie for 12th all-time at MSU with 90 starts and jumps to 16th all-time with 3,035 minutes played.
- Junior Lykendra Johnson tied her career high with three 3-point field goals, hitting all of her attempts.
Team Notes:
- The Spartans had six players in double-figure points for the first time since the 2008 season opener against Niagara (11/14/08).
- MSU held a 44-29 edge in rebounding, including a 17-10 advantage in second chance points.
- The Spartans shot 54.2% from the field, the best percentage since Dec. 13, 2009 against Florida Gulf Coast, including a 50.0% (10-of-20) clip from behind the arc.
