Spartan Women’s Basketball Earns WBCA Recognition

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Michigan State women's basketball was honored by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association with an academic Special Mention accolade.
As a team, the Spartans earned a grade point average of 3.523. Michigan State is one of nine Big Ten teams to earn Special Mention, along with Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio State, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin.
To earn WBCA Academic Special Mention a team must have a combined GPA of 3.0 or better and be nominated by its head coach who must be a member of the WBCA to be recognized. The 2025-26 season is the 31st in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
The Spartans also had five players earn Big Ten Distinguished Scholars led by 4.0s from Emma Shumate and Inés Sotelo. Theyn Hallock, Abbey Kimball and Grace VanSlooten also earned Big Ten Distinguished honors.
