
Spartans Host Big Ten Indoor Championships

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's tennis team will compete in its final fall tournament this weekend (Oct. 29-Nov. 1) as it hosts the Big Ten Indoor Championships. Matches will be held primarily at the MSU indoor tennis facility, with select matches being played at the Michigan Athletic Club. Play will begin tomorrow with doubles action starting at 9 a.m. and singles competition following on Saturday at 8 a.m., Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and Monday at 9 a.m.
Representing the Spartans in the A flight singles will be juniors Ronnie Hulewicz and Austin Brooks, sophomore Denis Bogatov, freshman Aaron Pfister, and seniors John Stratton, Jason Norville and Clark Richardson. B flight singles competitors will be freshmen Drew Lied and Ryan Richmond, as well as sophomores Christian Roehmer and Will Davis.
A flight doubles with consist of the tandems of Bogatov and Hulewicz, and Brooks and Stratton. B flight doubles with have Richardson and Lied, Roehmer and Davis, Pfister and Norville, and Richmond will join Chris Jackman of Northwestern to comprise a joint school tandem.
Last week the Spartans competed in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in South Bend, Ind. The doubles pairing of Bogatov and Hulewicz advanced to the third round before falling to Havens and Davis of Notre Dame, 8-5.
Bogatov also advanced the furthest of any Spartan in singles action before losing in the second round to Marek Michalicka of Wisconsin, 6-4, 6-4.
