Men's Golf Finishes 14th at UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan State men's golf team concluded play at the UNCG Bridgestone Golf Collegiate on Sunday in 14th place at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. The Spartans shot a final round 13-over par 301 to finish the 54-hole event at 25-over par 889 (297-291-301).
North Carolina held on to finish first with a score of 31-under par 833, which was seven shots ahead of Auburn. Auburn's Blayne Barber and Northwestern's David Lipsky shared medalist honors with matching scores of 14-under par 202.
Junior Dave Ellis was the top Spartan, tying for 51st at 5-over par 221. Junior Chris Mory and freshman Gareth Blease tied for 58th overall with matching 7-over par 223. The final two MSU golfers, junior Dan Ellis and freshman Conor O'Neil , tied for 65th at 10-over 226. Blease, Dave Ellis and O'Neil each had a team-best nine birdies on the weekend.
The Spartans finished the fall season and will return to action on Feb 11-12 with the Big Ten Match Play Championship.
