MSU Women's Tennis earns ITA All-Academic Honors

East Lansing, Mich.- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its annual All-Academic teams and Scholar Athlete list, given to programs and individuals that exhibit excellence in the classroom. Displaying commitment in the classroom, the MSU women's tennis team earned five Scholar Athlete selections and Michigan State was named as an ITA All-Academic team for the third consecutive season.
The individuals earning academic honors are Kate Bonnen (Austin, Texas), Stephanie Kebler (Okemos, Mich.), Christine Milliken (Traverse City, Mich.), Ana Milosavljevic (Johannesburg, South Africa) and Manon Noe (Liancort, France). Each of the athletes honored by the ITA are first-time selections.
In order to be named to the list, the student-athletes must have earned a 3.50 grade-point average in the current academic year, earned a varsity letter, and been enrolled at their present institution for at least two semesters.
Eligibility for the team award is based on a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher. The average team grade point average must include student-athletes who have competed in one or more varsity matches for the current academic year and whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form.
As one of the team captains in her junior season, Kebler finished the year as one of the top players on the team. Highlighted by an overall singles record of 21-15, Kebler consistently played in the Spartans second or third spot in the lineup. Her success in the classroom equals her performance on the court as Kebler is a majoring in business administration in the pre-law program.
Bonnen, who is in her second season with the Spartans, had a solid season in 2007-08. She completed the singles season with an overall record of 3-4, including a 3-3 tournament record. She competed in one doubles match, in which she earned the victory.
Finishing her sophomore season, Milliken accumulated an overall singles record of 5-5 and competed in the regular doubles rotation. Her most impressive feat of the season came when she went undefeated in the Spartan Invitational with a 3-0 record. Milliken is a kinesiology major.
Milosavljevic finished with a singles record of 20-12. Much of her success came in tournament play where she tallied an 8-2 mark. She was also dominant as a member of several doubles pairs. Her best pairing was with Whitney Wilson (Evansville, Ind.) as the two posted a 7-3 record. Milosavljevic is a general business major.
Noe was also a productive member of the 2007-08 squad. Appearing in a team-high 36 singles matches, Noe compiled 17 wins. Her biggest impact may have came on the doubles circuit. A member of three different pairings, her overall record was 19-14.
